My Experience Of Studying Abroad

Now I’m in Philippines, of course, I came here to study English. This is my first time to study abroad. So I experience many fresh things in this country, so I wanna tell you some merits and my impression of going abroad on this article.

At first, I came here to seek the environment without Japanese, which I thought improved my ability to speak and listening to English. In fact, it is a correct answer. During my stay, I have to use English instead of Japanese everywhere, anytime even if I can’t. Certainly, you can have English lessons in Japan but it isn’t easy for you to be able to speak English only by the ones.

Some people know that it’s a good thing to read aloud when you study English. But most of them don’t try to do it. Do you understand the reason? Maybe, I think it is because some of them are ashamed to be listened to their English by the people around them. However, everyone in my school tries to study English very hard and reads aloud every day. So I can try to do it without shame now.

As another merit, you can make many friends in foreign countries. It enables you not only to improve your English but to get various views of foreigners. I’m sure it’s one of the most important things and make you grow up. By making friends who can speak English, you can practice using it on Facebook or Skype even if you’re in Japan. 

You should act as soon as possible if you can learn English!!

Figure of optical illusion

How can you see this picture?

 

You may look as a spiral, but it is circular aggregate. It is the figure of optical illusion which was made by Fraser. It is a very complicated thing that I can watch us, and we can see strange picture.

Let’s see many figures of optical illusion which surprise us.

At first, it is one of the most famous figures that Müller-Lyer, F. C. made.

The length of the line in the top is as long as one of the line in the bottom, but we look like the line in the bottom which is longer than one of line in the top.

 

Next, when even circle of the same size is surrounded by big circles, it is seen as small one, and it is seen as big one when surrounded by small circles.

It was called by Ebbinghaus illusion.

 

The parallelogram of right and left is the same, but the left looks slim.

It is said that it relates to our depth perception. Shepard, R. N. had made it.

The gray domain among dark domains looks bright, and the gray domain among bright domains looks gloomy.

 

There are pictures which seem to move. For example, the picture which there is under this sentence is interesting.

You only look at it,　and it seems to move.

 

They are just part in many pictures of optical illusion. Its numerousness expresses complexity of our eyes. This is made to think about the mystery of the creature.
Psychologists have not been able to finish yet explaining why you see it in this way.

World Heritage Sites

  Are you interested in World HeritageSites? In Japan, there are 17 World Heritage Sites. For example, Yakushima, Itsukushima shurine and the Atmic Bomb Memorial Dome and so on. I think that you know the most of World Heritage Sites of Japan. But do you know Americn World Heritage Sites?
  The United States has more World Heritage Sites than Japan. The number of them is 21. I introduce some of them.
  First, the Statue of Liberty. This was sended by France to celebrate the 100th independent anniversary of America and as a proof of friendship between America and Fance. Alexandre Gastave Eiffel that planed Eiffel Tower concerned its design. Now that is a symbol of the United States. This often appears in a lot of movies.
  Second,  this is Grand Canyon. This is in the north of Arizona.  This is a topography that Colorado Plateau was undermined by a eroding agency of Colorado River. This place has histories of the earth and grand views. Colorado River started eroding about 40 million years ago. The ravine appeared about 5 million years ago. And in about 2 million years ago the ravine became the shape like present existence. Now the erosion still continues.
  These World Heritage Sites are so famous in the world. But I think that you have not known they are also World Heritage Sites. Probably what we know about them is their surfaces. Actually they have many histories or stories. I advise you to go the spot to learn the truths.

Hummingbird

  Do you know what is the smallest bird in the world? This is the hummingbird. It sits on a stem of gras.
  The hummingbird is not only the smallest bird in the world, but it is the only bird that flies like a helicopter. It can fly from side to side. And it can fly backward as well as forward.
  Hummingbird have more than 300 different kinds. You can see only about 18 of these different kind in the United States. Many of hummingbirds make a humming sound using their wings. They are named from this. The moving of hummingbird's wings are too fast to see them for us. When the bird feeds from a flowers, it seems to hang in the air.
  It is not hard for this little bird to go to for places. One kind of hummingbird flies thousands of miles. It goes south in the fall. And it goes north in the spring. Hummingbird can advance about a mile a minute with its little wings.
  Probably, you think that the bird would be very much afraid of larger birds because it is so small. But not the hummingbird! This little bird fights to repulse with its long bill. It has been known to make an eagle fly away!
  The hummingbird lays two white eggs. They are about as large as little peas. The young hatch in two weeks. The babies are ready to leave the nest in about three weeks.
  The hummingbird is very brave. And it is so beautiful. It is called a flying flower.

STARBUCKS

Do you often go STARBUCKS? I like STARBUCKS coffee very much. I knew the news of STARBUCKS, so I will introduce to you!

 On October 24th, STARBUCKS's first tea bar opened at the upper east side of Manhattan. Its name is "Teavana Fine Teas+Tea Bar".

 The shop is run by the tea shop "Teavana" which Starbucks voted buying last year. Traditionally "Teavana" was a specialty store which sold tea leaves and tea sets, but, addition to it, they began to make the first beverage service. We can taste peculiar drink such as 'Maharaja Chai Latte' and 'Apple Oolong Chia Fresca' and they provide the finest green tea latte. In addition to, they provide bakery and salad snacks to fit the tea drinks.

 Many tourists come there without knowing this is STARBUCKS's tea shop, although there are no STARBUCKS's logo, and the shop has modern and calm atmosphere.

 The shop in New York became the first shop and they seek expansion in the United States in the future. They have a plan for opening the second shop in Seattle in November.

 There are a lot of STARBUCKS in Japan, too. I think many people like their coffee! In addition to, Japanese like tea very much, of course I also like, so why don't you try it? I want to try it in New York.

 We always drink a tea so I am very happy to hear the news. I hope this shop is opened in Japan in the future.

Today is Halloween!

 Today is Halloween as you know, so I will introduce one of Halloween's events in New York. In the East Village, "Tompkins Square", Halloween "dog" parade was held on October 26th! I was surprised to know that, because "dog" is costumed! The event is the largest in US, and was 23rd this year. There were over approximately 300 people who love dogs at that time.

 It had a costume contest. Winner in this contest could get iPad or Broadway Tickets!

Many owners wore costume such as King Kong and the Empire State building with their dogs together, and the venue's people were excited! Winners of the contest were two Chihuahuas dressed as a lobster and a cock. Charlie, he is owner, said ' only in this year, we attended dog parade about 7 times. We won the Championship because the production of this costume and ornaments took more than two weeks and I'm very happy ' (It said on Newspaper site of New York's Economy on October 29th)

 Benefits in this event, including fee of admission and so on, is used by cleaning the park and maintenance costs. I think it is very nice.

 By the way, do you know that Halloween is the event of cerebrating for harvests in fall and ridding evil spirits? They wore Pumpkin because of saving themselves from the evil spirits! But these day, it is a party not meaning as religion.

The books which makes me like animals

Do you like animals? I came to like them, when I read a certain book. It is a book that was written by Ernest Thompson Seton. He teaches us about the habits of animals with using story.

Seton was born in the U.K.. When he was 5 years old, he moved to Canada with his family. Ten several years later, he graduated from a high school. He wanted to become natural historian, but he began to walk the way of the painter whom father recommended. Afterwards, he changed various countries, and he settled down in the United States. He published the book which recorded the 8 story that he used knowledge about his animal and what he experienced.

Lobo, the King of Currumpaw is one of them. It is episode that Seton had experienced before coming the U.K.. He became natural historian.

He was talked about damage due to the wolves with a friend. Lobo is boss of wolves, and it is very smart. A lot of wolf hunters loosed Lobo, so Seton who is natural historian was appointed by his friends. Many skillful devices which Seton set did not pass, and the Lobo escaped a trap as if they laughed at a human being. One day Seton noticed the existence of a female wolf that is friendly with Lobo. Seton caught a female wolf earlier than Lobo. Lobo was easily caught because of too much disappointment. Lobo tied to the chain loses violence, and it dead without eating all food and all water given. Seton looked at death of Lobo which didn't surrender to a human being to the last. He admired the dignity that there was in the wild, and he was ashamed of his snideness for proud wolf king.

I think that this work which was written about a wolf is masterpiece. Would you like to read his works?

American rifle

    Caroline sleep at the grave in Kentucky now. This grave is decorated a pony and a lot of flowers for her. She was still two years old. She has white skin and blond hair. Everyone who know her says that she was so beautiful and cute.

    The tragedy happened in Burk Hills of Kentucky in April this year. Caroline died from hitting a bullet fired by her brother. He was five years old. His father gave the rifle for kids as his birthday present last year. 

    When 26 elementary school students' lives were robbed from the blind firing case in Connecticut, Obama tried to restrain using rifle, but he comes to a deadlock because of  National Rifle Association of America. Many rifles are on the market now. 

    The rifle of Caroline's brother is bought easily. This price is about 13600 yen. Many parents of children 5 or 6 years old often buy it. What children use rifle for sports or hunt is lawful in the most of states.  

    Rifle makers had an eye on young children because they needed to pioneer new market when the rifle market was saturate in 1990s. And it was granted that children use rifles in countryside. Hunting     cultures have taken root there. Parents make their children use rifles. 

    A lot of people appeal for that a prohibition kids using rifles. But  some states having many hunting people oppose the rifle regulation. They think that adults have to manage rifles for safety of children. This is the moral taught by Caroline.

There is YKK near you!!

Can you answer what YKK is?  You must have looked it. Look at your fastener!  Maybe your fastener is made by YKK.

YKK makes the fasteners occupying 45% in the world, and its fastener occupy 95% in Japan. The reason of name is the abbreviation of Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikigaisya.

At first, fastener was invented for replacement of the string of boots at America in 1890 by Whitcomb L. Judson. It was fragile in those days, so Yoshida Tadahiro who was the president of YKK improved the fastener. For example, the fastener does not open without permission. When the handle of it looks up, fastener is locked. Handle work as a lock too. Fastener’s metal fittings were made with the detail of the micron unit.

It is said that technical elements more than 1200 are packed to a fastener. We can say that Japan improved American invention.

The invention return to USA, and NASA is using it. They use it for a space suit. It uses a watertight airtightness fastener, and they use almost same structure fastener too in the present which they passed through 40 years or more from Project Apollo of the 1960s. It is a very splendid thing.

The Japanese quality is accepted in the country where it was invented, and such a company is in Japan a lot elsewhere.

We can have a pride toward technology, and must offer the quality to the world. Therefore we should be able to use English which was spoken by a lot of people.

English that I was laughed at by a native speaker

Have you ever experienced that native speaker can’t communicate in your English? May be the reason is that you speak English used only in Japan. It is named an English word coined in Japan or Japanese English.

For example, salary man and office lady are Japanese English. It is said an office worker in English. Note PC is a mistake, right English is laptop computer. Origin of its name is visual of the parson who uses it with put it on the lap. When we speak English, we must correct blind touch to touch typing, front to reception, claim to complaint, consent to outlet or socket and gasorin-stand to gas station or petrol station. It is not yet the end. You have to correct order made to made to order, danboru to cardboard, Hotchkiss to stapler, and chakku to zipper. Chakku is a brand name of the Japanese maker, so we must speak zipper. Saying key chain or key ring is better key holder, because key holder means container to put a key. What I was surprised that Vienna was Japanese English the most in a lot of Japanese English. Vienna used in Japan is Vienna sausage’s abbreviated designation. There are many Japanese English.

We want to learn correct English, before we are laughed to our Japanese English by native speaker. I think so too, but I think that mistake is necessary too. You will get a lot of thing even if you were laughed at someone by mistake. To talk with someone is great thing.

Halloween in New York

 October 31st, Halloween, is coming soon!!!!! Do you have a plan?

 On October 31st, 2013, New York's largest a fancy dress parade "Village Halloween Parade" will be held in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. Do you know this parade?

 This event is said "Event is participation of creative people can enjoy together" and it is the 40th anniversary in this year. It was cancelled because Hurricane Sandy hit New York at the end of October last year, so it is held the first time in 2 years. This year more than 100 giant puppets, 53 bands, dancers and artists gathered and they will parade up from Spring Street to 16-chome at Sixth Avenue in Manhattan Street. The event's charm is every civilians can join this parade if they wear costume during the event.

 We have also some Halloween party in Japan and we wear costume but not everyone. I think it hasn't been big events for everybody in Japan yet, but in oversea, it seems that everybody enjoy Halloween!

 Speaking of Halloween, what do you imagine? I think "Costume" is one of the things. It also is "Pumpkin" as you know. In Japan, we can many goods of Pumpkin during this season. In New York, there is a Pumpkin fare, "The Haunted Pumpkin Garden". It is one of the big events in New York! It is crowded with tourists who come to enjoy Halloween with my family and friends.

 I think Halloween is a big event and foreign culture, so I want to join Halloween events, especially in New York! It looks so great! Why don't you join New York's Halloween events?

Easter is a famous fastival.

Have you ever heard about Easter? Easter is a Christian festival to celebrate the revival of Christ. Even, some countries have Easter holiday for the festival. If you are not Christian, it must be hard to believe the revival. However, it is actually recorded that there were 500 witnesses of the revival of Christ.

Since Christianity is one of the majour religions worldwide, it has a lot of brunches and involves numerous people, and Christians created various ways of celebrating Easter depends on countries or what kind of Christianity the person follows.

Christian people usually have a special-big family dinner, and play some games by using Easter eggs, which are a traditional symbol of fertility and rebirth, on Easter Day. The eggs are mostly colored hard-boiled chicken eggs, but nowadays, people also use chocolate eggs, plastic eggs, and jerry beans eggs.

The popular games are egg hunting and egg rolling. An egg hunting is that children look for various sizes and kinds of eggs (chocolate eggs, real hard-boiled eggs etc.) hidden indoors or outdoors.  An egg rolling is basically to roll a hard-boiled or decorated egg without breaking it.

The date of Easter changes every year. The date is established in 325 A.D. as the first Sunday after the full moon following the March equinox. The reason why the day is always Sunday is because Christ revived on Sunday.  In addition, the date is different depends on the Julian calendar (Eastern Christianity) or the Gregorian calendar (Western Christianity).  For example, Julian Easter was on May 5th and Gregorian Easter was on March 31st in 2013.
It might be helpful to know about Easter at least a little bit because Easter is a popular festival in the world, although it is not really common in Japan!

Résumé

              When you get a job, I am sure that you write your résumé. There are some differences between résumé of Japan and that of U.S. In Japan, people always write down their profiles on the united standard. On the position of readers, it is very easy to see that all the applicants use the same format. On the position of writers, however, it is very difficult to make an appeal of themselves to readers. This is because there are no sections to describe what they are. The employer can only comprehend what university the candidates graduated.

              On the other hand, in the U.S there is no formal style in résumé, so students are able to introduce themselves to the persons of the company freely. Therefore, this is unfavorable for the person with little personality. Nowadays, the number of cram school where people can learn how to create their résumé is on the rise. Basically, people write down contents like Japanese format. In addition to this, they fill in their classes strongly connected the company, academic records on graduation, social activities, and their strong point.

              Moreover, there is no formal style, so candidates consider the design of résumé and create it of theirs own. To attract reader’s interest, they consider order of information, the size and font of letter, colors, and so on. It is likely that the students who are good at handling computers or major in Information System create a much more accomplished résumé.

Do you know "Slice Out Hunger"?

 October 23th in 2013, "Slice Out Hunger" was held at St. Anthony's Church in New York City.  Do you know this event?

 It's a charity event.  This year, annual this event was the 5th, and their sale was pizza was donated on $ 1 by Manhattan and Brooklyn pizza parlor.  All of sales donate New York Food Bank.  Scott's Pizza Tours do tour of Pizzerias in New York was originally, and it was opening pizza party in celebration of the company.  Scott's owner thought that he wanted to contribute to the city, and Scott's Pizza would donate a piece of pizza at $1.  Quickly the rumor that they can eat popular pizza on $ 1 was spread.

 Despite the events on the day before the start time, the Church was surrounded by more than 100 people who have waited.  Participated Pizza shops were 43 stores.  At least they can buy $ 1 pizza, so the visitors purchased 10-20 tickets.  Pizza boxes which put the pizza were distributed at the entrance, and they advanced follow the row thinking about which pizza they want to eat.  Some of them was trying pizza of all stores, so Pizza was seem to spill from the boxes because pizza in the boxes was too much.

 

 They could gather $20000 at the three-hour event, so a million diet food will be distributed to the needy and homeless.

 I read this news on Internet and felt it was a nice event, how about you?  I want to go to New York someday, so I am learning English!  Why don't you go this event in New York?

Science and us

   The origin of science is your questions asking why. One day Newton saw a falling apple in the garden. He thought why did the apple fall and there must be something that pulled it to the ground. Then he discovered the law of gravity in this way. The weight of things is gravity. Everything has it's weight because the earth pulls it. When you hear this theory, you may ask why can a plane go up into the air.

   You can throw up a ball. If you throw the ball up with a greater power than its weight, it goes up. But it is restrained from the pull of the earth. The same thing can be said of a plane going up.

   Manind created the way to get away from the earth. It is a rocket. The rocket's power is great enough to get free from the pull of the earth. Two American teams landed on the moon. They searched around the moon with a large rocket. The rocket can get away from the earth into space because of such a great speed. The speed must be more than 24000 miles an hour. About thousands people worked together to send only two teams. Not only people but also the computer helped it. It told them when to start and where to land.

   We come to be able to do anything thanks of science, but can you feel really happy with it? Many people have various ideas. This is not an easy question. When you grow up, you should try to find an answer for yourselves.

Why do you study English?

 Today, there are a lot of tests which evaluate English skills in the world, for example, TOEIC TEST and TOEFL TEST.  

 

 In Japan, teachers use five rankings to evaluate student's performance of each subjects, so we tend to study any subjects to get a good grade or point.  However, as for English, if we can get high score in a test, we can speak English very well?  I think it is important to get high score in a test because reading, writing and listening skills is also important and a score is enable to compare with each person's English skills, but can they know speaking skill of English in a score?

 

 To study English is also important in Japan, but we should experience to go abroad or we should try to speak English in Japan or foreign countries.  How do you think?  You want to study English to talk with foreigners or tell own opinion on conversation or business in English, don't you?

 

 Why don't you visit foreign countries? I recommend you visiting New York.  Do you know that there are a lot of school in New York?  One of them,which I know, is PCTECH!  It is located near Grand Central station.  In addition to, there are many good places in New York, for example, TIMES SQUARE, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park.

 

 I think that if you visit there, you can enjoy eating, shopping and so on, and you must learn English!  It is good for us to hear English from native speaker and talk with them. How do you think?  Let's study English in New York to use English!

My English friend

  I think that you have many friends, but, do you have friends speaking English? I have a friend like it. Her name is Green. She is half Japanese and half England. Her appearance is exotic, so many people think that she is non-Japanese. She can speak English well as if she is a foreigner. She have lived Japan for 20 years, though she is not good at speaking Japanese. My encounter with Green interested me in speaking English because she is sociable and she always talk to me in English.

  

  I could not hear her speaking. So I was not able to show my answers or ideas, and I did not try to use English because I was uncertain of my ability to speak English at first. But I longed to talk with her using the fluent English and she was so cool when she talked with overseas students. Then I actively talk to her and I try to show my ideas in English with body languages. And I watch a lot of TV programs of English conversation. If I learned new English words, I use them in the talking. I have spent days for about a year.

   Now, I came to be able to talk with her in English. It is not so bad. And I newly have a next goal. This is talking to many overseas students in my school. I think that you also try to do for your goal if you have aims. Let's talk to foreigner! It becomes your big first step. You may need much courage at first, but if you take a step forword, a big world await you in the future.

McDonald's

           One of the most famous fast food shops is the McDonald’s. It has 30,000 stores in 118 countries and areas around the world (As of June, 2009). The first store in the world was opened in the Chicago suburbs of Illinois in 1955. In Japan, the first store was opened in Ginza of Tokyo in May 1971.

           As you know, the McDonald’s symbol is red and yellow mark. This is because McDonald’s locates the premium arch as symbol. However, some stores do not use red and yellow colors or match a surrounding landscape. For example, the outside of the store in New York near the Times Square is very showy and in Kyoto of Japan, not to spoil scenery, stores use brown.

           In addition, the size of drink in Japan is different from that of U.S. The small size of Japan is 300ml but in U.S it is 700ml. The small size of U.S is larger than the large size of Japan; 650ml. The large size of U.S is 1300ml. Surprisingly, in U.S stores sold the Super Size Me larger than large size! Furthermore, you can have another serving!

           In Islamic countries, which prohibit peoples from eating pork McDonald’s stores use lamb, chicken, whitefish and croquette made of vegetables as ingredients of hamburgers. McDonald’s in Italy also supply pasta to people.

           In this way, McDonald’s meets demand of people in each country, so now it is no exaggeration to say that McDonald’s is the most loved fast-food restaurant.

 

Let’s go to NewYork, eat hamburger and learn English at PCTECH!

English and Culture

There are many American culture in Japan, for example signboard of the alphabet, hamburger and TPP etc…            

May we understand imminent American culture well? 

I do not think so.            

 

Have you ever been read the word written in T-shirt which you wear?   

In the days of a junior high student, clothes have been laughed at by a classmate.   

It was written "nature calls" on the clothes.       

I thought that nature and call are cool, I can’t understand why they are laughing.        

When I knew the meaning, I awfully blushed.     

The mean of “nature calls” is “I want to go to restroom”         

My English teacher tell me who didn’t know the mean, in secret.

Then I noticed that I only use English without thinking about the mean .   

 

I think that only when the people speaks or write it, language has value .           

Do we not have to know what kind of scene one word is spoken in each?        

If you haven’t thought so, does it have the meaning to learn English?              

I don’t know which I should learn early, the language or the country.           

However, it will be impossible to master a language without knowing the culture of the country , and the reverse will be the same thing too.          

 

 

If we will go to PC TECH, we seem to be able to learn not only English but also the American culture.    

That sounds like good, I was charmed. 

     

I want to learn English and American culture step by step in New York to understand the heart which people of country have.

English is an important communication tool!

Japanese students have studied English since junior high school, but almost all of us couldn’t speak English very well.  How do you think?  I was said by my Chinese friend, “Japanese can write and read very well, but they can’t speak.”  I think so, too.  I think Japanese don’t speak English voluntarily because we are very shy.  In addition to, we don’t have enough experience!  I think we should “Challenge”.  To Challenge is very important and we should experience to talk with someone in English more.

Almost of us studies English for entrance examinations, but I think English is “tool” of communicate with different countries people.  We use English, and we have to tell own mind!  It is a really valuable thing.  We need valuable English, don’t we? 

I think going abroad is one of the ways to experience to tell own mind in English.  We can’t use Japanese because we will be in the environment of only English.  We need to train ourselves in talking a lot of things.  How about going to New York?  We can have stimulative times.  We hear English from native speaker, and we will study English for communication more than being in Japan.  I think it is real aim to study English!

Why do you study English?  Don’t you want valuable English skills, do you?  I want valuable English skills, and I use English many times!  I want to go to New York and study at English school, especially PCTECH!  I am sure I can learn a lot of things, not only English!

Japanese English

     English is now the largest language in this world. And I think that Japan is one of the most important countries for America when I see how strong the relation between the two countries. For example, Japanese companies, which its HQ is in Japan, are extended abroad, and now more than 2,000 manufacturing plants are in America. And these days, more and more American people have come to Japan, the number of the visitors in 2012 reaching over 700,000. On the other hand, in Asia, Japan is the top developed country, so Japan needs to be the leader of the Asian countries internationally.
     Therefore, following the fact that I said above, English skills are required to us. And now many companies require higher English skills, so when we think about employment, we must think about our English skills. But in fact, Japan’s English level is the lowest in Asia. Most Japanese can’t use English properly although we had studied English about 6 years or more. I’m also one of these people. Then, why? I think the reason is caused by the wrong recognition about English study.
     The most important thing when we study English is not to depend on the “techniques” that says we can improve our skills so easily, to study only reading and translation, but to “input” so many English vocabularies, pronunciations, and sentences. Almost all of us don’t go through this process, so our English get to only useless level. Inputting them in the very hard way is the shortest way to learn English.
     This is not easy at all, but I want a lot of people,of course including me, to realize and carry it out, and improve English skills.

English skills are very important!

If we study English, there are many good things.  How do you think?

I think so.  We can communicate with other country people in Japan or foreign countries.  These days, we often see foreigner in Japan.  When I saw them, I always thought I could talk with them if I can speak English…  What a wonderful thing if we can make friends from other country!

Last week, I was talked by English man at a pub, then we drank together and talked about each other.  It was a nice time for me, but maybe I would have more wonderful time if I can speak and listen English more.

In addition, we need English.  We speak own language, but each language doesn't enable to communicate, so we need "Common Language" in the world.  If we have common language, we can discuss about any problem, so to study English connects peace in the world!  We need English as "Common Language".

In other point, we can communicate by not only speaking but also reading.  I think reading book is also communicating.  We can learn about other country in English.  We can know much more things!  I read the American or English book, and I know the many world's problem of the past.

Now, we can contact on email or other way like this blog, so it is important for us to have English skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing).

The real English ability

    As you know, English is most important language in the world. It is said about two billion people use it these days because of the development of Internet, so it is necessary for us to learn English. In fact, Rakuten, Inc, which serves in the field of Internet, uses English as an official language in order to enlarge the scale of the company around the world. Like this, English is also becoming the skill in business.

    Do you know how the level of English in Japan is? Surprisingly, it is so low although there are a lot of organizations to teach English in Japan. TOEFL indicates the fact, for the average mark of the test in Japan is the lowest rank in Asia. The lack of our English ability suggests that we should change how to study English.

    We focus studying English on reading and writing mainly, I think, it doesn't lead to the real English ability, which means that we must learn English not to read and write but to listen to and speak. For example,  if you can't speak English at all, even if you have the ability to write and read,  you can't understand what the clients say when you contact with the foreign companies.

    To be a good English speaker, we must use English everywhere. Of course, we can learn English in Japan but it's too insufficient because there is the opportunities to touch not only English but also Japanese. You must be filled with only English, so I recommend that you learn it at PCTECH in New York.
